What this tool checks

The tool recognizes Apple's listed iPhone, iPad and iPhone Duo sizes, marks the ones Studio exports, and flags PNG alpha channels and palette transparency. It groups files by device size but cannot identify their language. It does not review screenshot content or guarantee App Store acceptance. Apple's full specifications also cover other platforms.

Once your files pass, compare how the first three read at a compact size before you choose an upload order.

  • Pixel size

Compared with Apple's listed iPhone and iPad sizes. If none match, see the nearest Studio export size.

  • Orientation

Checks portrait and landscape dimensions, including older sizes whose landscape dimensions are not simple rotations.

  • Alpha channel

Apple's specifications say images can't include alpha channels or transparencies. The checker reads both regular PNG alpha channels and palette transparency, which can be refused even at the right size.

  • File format

App Store Connect accepts PNG and JPEG. Re-export other formats before uploading.

Common questions

Does my screenshot get uploaded anywhere?
No. The check runs in your browser: the file is read on your device to get its pixel dimensions, and nothing is sent anywhere. An unreleased app never leaves your machine.
What size do App Store screenshots have to be?
Studio exports 11 sizes across 7 device classes. The validator also recognizes other iPhone and iPad sizes listed by Apple. The 6.3-inch iPhone takes 1206 × 2622, 1179 × 2556, and 1206 × 2622 is the one default iPhone size in Studio.
Can I upload screenshots in landscape?
Yes. Apple lists a landscape entry for every screenshot size, with the same numbers the other way round, 2622 × 1206 for the 6.3-inch iPhone. The validator recognises a rotated file and says which class it belongs to.
Why was my PNG refused even though the size was right?
An alpha channel may be the cause. Apple’s screenshot specifications say images cannot include alpha channels or transparencies, so a PNG exported with a transparent background is refused at the size it would otherwise pass. The validator reads the PNG header and tells you when a file carries one.
How many screenshots can I upload?
One to ten per size and language set, as PNG or JPEG. Choose screenshots that show your app’s main features.
Can I check a whole screenshot set at once?
Yes. Select several files. The tool groups recognized images by device size and shows which files need correction. It cannot tell which localization a file belongs to, so review each language separately before uploading.
Which screenshot sizes are required for an iPhone and iPad app?
Apple lists a medium Dynamic Island iPhone screenshot as required, plus a 13-inch iPad screenshot if your app supports iPadOS. App Store Connect may scale images between display sizes when the interface is consistent. Check the required wells for your app before submitting.
Are iPhone Duo screenshots required now?
Apple lists outer-display 1398 × 2034 and inner-display 2007 × 2853 screenshots. Its current specifications say they become required in April 2027 for apps using the iOS 27.1 SDK or later. Studio can design and export each display separately; this checker verifies the files.
